End of Gestation: Sun at 29° Pisces
If you haven’t heard, we have entered a new astrological year. But before we take off, guns blazing, let’s take a moment to freeze ourselves in time, and reflect upon the past.
Sun at 29° of Pisces,
captured Tuesday, March 19th.
The Sun is our center, it is the big daddy, the stabilizer, the one you want to see well expressed in a chart. The Sun brings gifts of clarity, light, energy, vitality, flow, and lifeforce. The Moon is our mirror to the Sun, but much much smaller in size, though the Moon is deceivingly large!
Did you know that the Moon and the Sun actually appear to the be the same size, despite the Moon being 400 times smaller than the Sun! This phenomena happens because relative to Earth, the Sun is 400 times farther away than the Moon. This creates a unique harmony for earthbound perceivers, where the Moon so perfectly inlays itself over the Sun (but these occurences are rare) — this is called a SOLAR ECLIPSE.
AHem — the next TOTAL solar eclipse is happening this April 8th, 2024. This will be North America’s last total solar eclipse for 20 years! Here is a picture of the path where this will be visible (in its fullness).
Because every celestial body’s orbit continuously changes, we are a lucky millenium of human beings to experience eclipses in the way that we do. So talk about significant experiences.

Here’s what I’ve been experiencing recently, all of a sudden, my life became ten-times busier. About one week before the equinox, my schedule filled up with tasks, meetings, and new commitments for the short and long-term. This is really because I committed to a vision, and have pursued a course. I applied to school, completing a whole application (with a portfolio, letters of recommendation, and two personal statements) in 5 days. Only to then pivot, and start the process of registering with a completely different school that I felt fit my needs.
And now I’m getting ready to move to a completely different location. This Sun in Aries is just like BOOM, WER’RE GONNA DO EVERYTHING YOU COULDN’T DO BEFORE, RIGHT NOW. And…. now two weeks later — cue burnout.
❋ ❋ ❋
Ok so now I’m writing this in Aries season, looking back on this energy… I’m feeling a little underwhelmed, and overwhelmed at the same time. My boyfriend and I sat in bed last night, in complete darkness, as he completely peeled off these nihilistic and sad suits that have been on me for far too long. What is this despair that swallows me? Why am I so still and stagnant in my rot? (This narrative is exactly what needs to be expelled — through Aries, this opportunity comes alive).
Aries is the fire of breaking through the stagnant energy that we had been left in from Pisces.
For example, the Pisces era representing a state of suspension. I want you to think about Pisces as being the womb, and the child within the womb, conscious of itself in a way that we have no direct access to. But once that baby crowns, and breaks that embryonic barrier between suspension and Earth’s forces, we lose that veil of consciousness.
We are forced to embody something new.
This is Aries.
I have before described as Aries being the crowning phase of life. Where we break through the canal, and are (hopefully) pushed head first into new territory. It’s a symbol of pioneers, of being forced into a channel, and the energy of that expulsion. It’s the sense of being head strong, and stubborn. But you also have to realize how sensitive the Aries channel is, to be exposed to a completely new terrain, uncertain of what will come of your course, is terrifying. But also, it’s raw. The head of a child, raw skin, first breaking through the atmosphere… that’s some raw shit. No wonder Aries are called the big babies of the zodiac. ALSO, heavy Aries energy can not only be headstrong, but they can have prominent heads too…
So where have you been feeling this energy? Awakening from your sleepiness? This specific year, we enter Aries with Mars actually in Pisces. Last year when the Sun ingressed into the new year, Mars was in Gemini. We were probably more plugged in, whereas this Aries season catches us a little bit more in a loop. Perhaps we’re a little bit more sleepy. Not as quick to respond to the pleasantries of Spring, but slow rolling. Especially because Mars is in Pisces with Saturn and Neptune. On March 23, Mars entered Aries with beautiful Venus (and the Sun), but still the soul of the world is healing. That’s something you should have been very aware of.
And now! Our Aries Sun ruled by a Mars in Pisces — like what are we even doing. Is Mars trying to cut all the old karmic baggage “that no longer serves us” (as we hear all the time)? Perhaps! Because Mars is a cutting energy, Mars wants to cut, burn, demolish, desecrate… Perhaps not by want, but that’s what happens. Mars is the God of War. He wants to make a rumble, and stir things up. But he may be getting lost in this sea of confusion that is the Neptunian and Saturnian waters of Pisces. It seems like he has to acknowledge the order. Can we keep living like this? Should we? How much more of this disillusionment can we take?
All questions for the progression of this Aries season.
I hope you charge headfirst, courageously into the unknown. You will sometimes fall, and scrape your knees, but just get back up.
Until next time, multi-cellular friends.
